Built during the reign of the Vijayanagara Empire in the 15th century, Lotus Mahal served as a royal pavilion for the women of the royal family. The structure was likely used as a recreational space or meeting hall where the queens and princesses could relax and spend their leisure time.

The Vittala Temple complex is best known for the iconic Stone Chariot, which has become a symbol of Hampi and appears on the Indian ₹50 currency note.
